Support Your Local Flower Farmer

As consumers begin to become more clued up about where clothes and food comes from, that same question needs to be asked of that beautiful bouquet of cut flowers at the grocery store you just purchased.

The United States Flower Market is dominated by Foreign Imports – accounting for 80% of Flowers sold here in this Country. Chances are those flowers are old by the time they are arranged in a vase (think about how long it takes for them to be transported from Mexico), not to mention covered in chemicals whether in the growing stage or to preserve them in transport.

Instead of grabbing a quick bouquet from the grocery store to compliment that organic meal you’re making, consider purchasing locally grown flowers.  (Our Flower Farm provides this option with delivery available). Sign up below for our Newsletter about our Flower Fix.

When purchasing Locally Grown Flowers you are supporting not only local businesses and economy but all local wildlife by standing up against harsh chemicals and pesticides use.  Buying locally grown flowers helps diminish carbon emissions by preventing the transport of flowers from across the world to your local area.

So next time you’re considering those lovely bunch of Roses at the store, consider what it took to grow them – a lot of chemicals.  Oh, and if you do grab them, just don’t put them next to that organic food you purchased!

Seriously though, consider your Local Flower Farmer for your Flower Fix.  The pop of true color and sweet smells that compliment special moments or everyday life should never be imported across the country.
